About

This blog is the home of the Writing in the Disciplines (WID) Program at Medgar Evers College.

The WID program at Medgar Evers College is committed to realizing CUNY’s 1999 Board Resolution to “ensure that quality writing skills are fostered in all disciplinary areas.”

Our WID program focuses its efforts primarily in support of faculty who are developing writing-intensive courses. Each semester we hold a WID Study Group consisting of faculty and Writing Fellows to discuss effective strategies for teaching and learning writing skills in the context of participants’ disciplinary areas. The Study Group, WID coordinator meetings and CUNY WAC/WID conferences provide Writing Fellows with professional development that contributes to all WID offerings on campus.

Apart from the Study group, WID offerings include Writing Fellow assistance to writing-intensive course instructors outside the Study Group, writing workshops for faculty and students, assistance with faculty research on student writing, and mentoring tutors in the Writing Center.
